Finn Pearson

Singer-songwriter Finn Pearson has steadily built himself a reputation as one of WA’s hardest working musicians. At just 23 years of age, he’s already established himself as a prolific multi-instrumentalist, playing with local acts such as Siobhan Cotchin, Sash Seabourne and Claudie Joy and the Joy Boys on top of his own music, oscillating between extensive solo regional touring and a string of packed-out full band shows in Perth. Described by Pilerats as “one of the state’s most exciting new additions in the past two years or so” his single ‘No Apologies’ won the Best Folk award in WAM’s Song of the Year category. However, the release of his debut EP ‘Sweat & Vermouth’ and the launch of a powerhouse new live band sees Pearson expand into a more explosive direction. Against a backdrop of West Australian scenery, from sprawling suburbs to unlit coastal tracks and sweeping empty highways, Pearson’s songs track the messy dichotomies that make up our humanity: love and darkness, obsession and yearning; beauty and rage. Classically Australian influences such as Paul Kelly and Cold Chisel meet the modern lyrical potency of Father John Misty and Phoebe Bridgers, resulting in an electrified folk-rock sound that’s simultaneously intensely nostalgic and recognisably contemporary.
